CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65

In 1986, California voters approved the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, known as Proposition 65, requiring businesses to provide warnings to customers about potential exposure to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

REASON FOR WARNING:

Products containing any amount of substances outlined in California Proposition 65 are required to have this warning, regardless of whether the listed substances are harmful at those levels, unless proven to have “no significant risk” of exposure.
Most electronic devices are known to contain 1 or more of the chemicals listed under Prop 65, so in order to properly inform our customers, this warning has been added to our products.

PRODUCT SAFETY

Bryton GPS Cycle Computers may be well within the “no significant risk” range, both by the State of California and EU RoHS. However, Bryton chooses to place the Prop 65 warning label on our products to help our customers make informed purchase decisions.

The California Prop65 website explains, “You could think of Proposition 65 more as a ‘right to know’ law than a pure product safety law”, and, according to the State of California, “The fact that a product bears a Proposition 65 warning does not mean by itself that the product is unsafe.”
